About Zero Balancing

What is Zero Balancing ?

Zero Balancing is a gentle, holistic, hands on bodywork system designed to align and balance your energy body with your physical structure. When structure and energy are balanced, dysfunctional habits, such as outmoded emotional patterns and imprints from past traumas, tend to release. Clients often report they are able to function with more ease and comfort in their busy and sometimes stressful lives. This is why most people who are receiving ZB report experiencing a sense of fluidity, integration and well-being following a session. Simple yet powerful, it focuses on the whole person while addressing specific needs.

You could think about the sail of a boat (structure) and the wind (energy). When the wind and the sail meet just right, the boat moves with ease. It is the same with you, when your structure (body) and your energy are balanced, your life moves more easily.

With Zero Balancing we focus on your bones (especially the foundation and semi foundation joints). Bones are the deepest and densest part of your structure and therefore your largest conduit of energy. Here old patterns and traumas are often stored. By treating your physical core (skeletal bones), we also touch the deeper core of who you really are. This is why when finished, people report a greater sense of wholeness, relaxation and groundedness. And when people have a body/mind experience of who they are beneath the pain and the personality, so much is possible.

Who benefits from receiving ZB?

ZB can help almost anyone who wants to feel better. I work with both adults, and children (especially those in their teens). Some clients are working with physical, emotional, and/or spiritual issues. Some are in transition. Others come in to enhance their wellness. ZB also works well as an adjunct to most other therapies.

What does a session look like?

My sessions are approximately 60 minutes long. After an intake, if I haven’t seen you before, we will talk about what intention or intentions (called a frame) you would like to set for the ZB. This is followed by a brief seated evaluation of your shoulders, ribs, and SI joints to check for mobility and ease of movement. You then lie face up on the table fully clothed for a very relaxing experience. (I have heard many people say they go into a much deeper state of relaxation than they do with massage.) The treatment addresses your whole person. Throughout the session, there is a constant interplay of evaluating, balancing, and reevaluating your bones and key joints. When finished, you are given time to walk and sense the changes that have taken place while further integrating the treatment. The session itself continues when you leave my office to integrate for up to 1 to 3 days.

In ZB there is no rush. Your body’s energy sets the rhythm. The session is held in a field of support and clarity. Because of a special touch called interface, changes arise out of your own innate body wisdom. A common comment I hear from clients: “this is different from anything that I have received before” and “you could not have described this experience to me”.

How does ZB work?

Through the use of what we call fulcrums (and interface), a clearer and stronger field of energy is placed in the bones or connective tissues. This field of energy can override dysfunctional patterns that are a part of physical and emotional pain. A state of balance can result accompanied by a release in pain, stored stress, and sometimes very old issues.

How often are sessions appropriate?

After the first visit, if appropriate, I would like to schedule weekly for 3 more appointments to see how your body responds over time. Your sessions build on each other. After the 3rd or 4th session we would evaluate your care to decide if further treatments would be beneficial. Problems or concerns have often cleared by this time. People often continue to come back on various scheduled intervals for self care and “tune-ups” after their original concerns have abated.
